Eat a delicious burger and feel good about yourself because you've just given to a good cause! Starting in February 2021, The Island Burger Project is a pretty straightforward idea which is beneficial for everyone that wants to get involved.

What is The Island Burger Project?

Tom Woodley, Group Executive Chef, and Jack Fantini, General Manager at Base Magnetic Island explain...

"The concept is this, we reach out to a community organisation. We then tell them how much we love cooking burgers, and we ask them to design a burger that they would like to eat. We take their design, fire up the grill and make their creation a reality.

For the whole month their burger will feature as a special on our menu for everyone to come down and enjoy. At the end of the month we tally up how many of their burgers we have sold and give $5 per burger to their organisation. As I said it’s a win for all parties involved. You guys get a delicious feed, we get to cook it and an organization gets a boost with their own projects that they have on."

These delicious special burgers are only available at The Island Bar located at Base Magnetic Island, our accommodation located right on the beach on the stunning Maggie Island!

We asked the guys to design their burger and here iit is - Pesto roasted field mushroom, tomato & chilli salsa, butter crunch lettuce, pickled red cabbage, tomato and grilled halloumi! This burger will be running for the whole month with $5 from each sale going to them to help them keep doing what they do!!

We got in touch with the crew, asked them to design their burger and this is what they came back with:

The Firey Chook - $17

Buttermilk fried chicken, melted cheese, crispy bacon, chilli slaw, rocket lettuce, mango chilli jam & lime aioli on a toasted milk bun.

This monster burger will be featured on our menu at The Island Bar for the whole of February. So come down, enjoy a burger, know that what you're eating is not only ridiculously tasty but also going towards helping a great community cause.
