Every year millions of Aussies flock to the nearest Beach, Park, Festival or Backyard to celebrate Australia Day! Ask an Aussie for the meaning behind this nationwide holiday and expect a vague response. It will become obvious however, that Australia Day is all about the long weekend, knocking back a few cold ones and celebrating anything and everything that is Aussie!


Big Day Out

Australia Day Weekend

Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Gold Coast & Adelaide play host to our nation’s favourite music festival every Australia Day Weekend! This year’s lineup features Pearl Jam, Arcade Fire, Snoop Doff, Flume, Naked & Famous, The Lumineers & more!


Havianas Thong Challenge

Australia’s favourite Flip Flop, or ‘thong,’ hosts a nationwide event that results in thousands of Aussie’s hitting the closest beach, park or backyard with a gigantic, blow up thong – and attempt the Guiness World Record for the largest number of inflatable thongs in the ocean!

Bondi Beach (Sydney), Cottesloe (Perth), Glenelg (Adelaide), Torquay (Melbourne)  or Mooloolaba (Sunshine Coast) will all be hosting the event! Can’t make it? You can register your party or gathering to receive an inflatable thong pack below:


Triple J Hottest 100

Triple J is Australia’s favorite alternative radio station, and each year millions of Aussie’s cast their votes for the best song of the year! Tune in for the countdown!

Sydney’s iconic harbour will play host to live music performances, an Australia Day Parade, a Tall Ship race, Yacht Race, Tinnie Muster, The Great Swim & More! Grab a picnic rug and enjoy an eventful day on the harbor.

Overlooking St Kilda Beach, The Espy will be pod casting the Hottest 100 as well as featuring a number of live bands throughout the afternoon. Great place to watch the sunset!

Melbourne is Australia's 'garden state.' Take an esky and a picnic rug and head down to one of Melbourne's parklands. Favourites includes Royal Botanical Gardens, Birrarung Marr, Queen Victoria Gardens & Edingburgh Gardens.
