Camping might seem to be the safest option during these strange times of COVID-19. (We do have social distancing in place in our dorm rooms though). If you love camping but still want the backpacking experience, you should stay at Nomads / Base Airlie Beach Campground.
Base Airlie Beach is located right in the centre of town with a large campground which has space for tents, and powered and non-powered sites. All guests can make use of the facilities onsite and are able to make lots of new friends who are also travelling up or down the East Coast of Australia.
