After being tested on size of natural smile and zest for life, staff at Base Backpackers St Kilda are quizzed on knowledge of tram routes, history of the city, and local haunts. Only then do they join our young energetic team. We love what we do and this is visible from the moment you check in until you’re served your final beer at the infamous Red Eye bar. The Red Eye Bar is open from 5.30pm until 2.30am. Dinner (Pub Food - Burgers, Pizza, Wings, Tacos) is available for around $10.
We love cleaning! Our permanent full time housekeeping team will tip-toe past you at midday everyday to start in your bathroom then come back in the afternoon to vacuum and empty your rubbish. Our house keeping team give the communal kitchen a go over three times a day!
Base Backpackers St Kilda is a universe under one roof – travel agent, a happening bar, chill out area, cute smoking courtyard, underground carpark and a ‘fit for a piggy’ all ya can eat breakfast buffet.
If you do need to feel the sun on your face - everything else is a hop, step and jump away! Shops, trams, beach, bars, clubs, banks, post office, even an amusement park (with the worlds oldest operating roller coaster!).
Getting here and away is no problem. From the train it’s a 20min tram ride, and from the airport there is a bus that drops you right at the front door.
