Base Backpackers Hostel - Magnetic Island
Magnetic Island lies just off the coast of Townsville, Queensland. Temperature ranging from hot to OH MY GOD!
Right along the beach, beneath the palm trees a place that chills by the pool under the sun, but parties under the moon. Base Backpackers Magnetic Island plays home to the World Famous Full moon party Down Under; and has been my home for the past 6 months.
Arriving at 7am in the morning after a voyage across turbulent seas with a hangover that would take down Genghis Kahn, I was in search of a quick relaxing holiday break. Next thing I know I’ve got a job setting up for the full moon party. I worked all day and all night alongside two thousand crazy party people, all here to grab a bucket and dance and party with some of the world’s biggest DJ’s.
Base Magnetic Island isn’t all Full Moons and hangovers though, right on our front door step is a fantastic example of Australian Coral Reef. With an onsite dive school, it would be stupid not take advantage and jump in and have a look around. I’m now getting my open water qualification, and it isn’t all back flips, mermaid hunting and shark wrestling the guys made it out to be. I can now dive whenever I want and with the reef literally thirty seconds from my door... why not, afterall it is the cheapest open water dive course in Australia.
Base Backpackers Magnetic Island a great place to relax, party and do it all over again the next day.
