Great Ocean Road at sunset03:40 PM on Mon 18 Aug 2014

A nice early morning start and I’m off down the Great Ocean Road to check out the 12 Apostles with Bunyip Tourism Group.  Well, there are only 8 left now days, but who’s counting?

First thing I notice is how amazing the tour guide (Peter in this case) is. Right off the bat, greeted with a smile and a handshake, setting the tone for a great day ahead.

As we are making our way towards the Great Ocean Road through Melbourne city, we are treated to a fantastic commentary complements of peter, providing the group with some great stories and previously unknown facts about the great city of Melbourne… Best city in the world some would say!

First stop is taken at the stunning coastal town of Lorne.  Known for its golden surf beach, it did not disappoint!  Quick coffee, some local history and many great photo opportunities, and we are on our way again.

Changing the pace up and I find myself immersed in the Otway rainforest for a go at some koala spotting. To begin it was like finding a needle in a hay stack, but once I got the hang of it… easy! Getting to see them in their natural habitat, what an experience!

The sunset is nearing and we have arrived at the 12 Apostles.

Now this is a must do – take the time to walk down the Gibson Steps onto the beach. Getting down to sea level with the monstrous apostles is something else, awe- inspiring and captivating. I was lost for words.

To top off the perfect day I am treated to one of the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen: nothing beats an Oceanside sunset, seeing the sun change from a bright yellow to dark orange over the 12 Apostles… Amazing!

This is definitely a must do while here in Melbourne. Make the most of this experience, take some great selfies and most importantly have fun!
