There’s no shortage of shopping in Sydney, but away from the brightly lit shops and multi-level malls lies a network of Sydney markets that offer a bustling buying experience.

Sydney offers fish markets, fashion markets, and everything in between. Here are four Sydney markets not to be missed, especially if you're looking for some bargains and are on a budget.

Best Sydney Markets for Bargains

Glebe Markets

Just a couple of kilometres from Sydney’s CBD, the Glebe Public School transforms into a market offering everything from second-hand clothing to lavish homewares. Shoppers on a budget will love the huge arena of recycled fashion where items usually only cost a few dollars. To find true steals, arrive at Glebe Markets near the end of the day when stall-owners begin to shout out discounts on every item.

The large grassy area also contains food stalls and live music for a funky flea market feel.

Kirribilli Markets

If you’re looking for a market with a view of Sydney’s iconic landmarks, look no further than the Kirribilli markets. Held in Sydney’s north, the Kirribilli Markets has stellar views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and with just a short walk, visitors can find the waterfront for an impressive view of the Sydney Opera House.

The Kirribilli markets bring together shoppers of all ages for everything from food stalls to forward fashion. A tunnel under the bridge shows off handmade items and art pieces, but the farther you walk into the expanses of the market, the more treasures you’ll find. Head straight to the back to find pre-loved clothing, shoes, and accessories before relaxing on the grassy lawn.

  • Where: Bradfield Park in Milsons Point
  • When: Kirribilli’s Art, Design, & Fashion markets are held on the second Sunday of each month, while the general markets are held on the fourth Saturday of every month. Both markets run from 8:30am to 3pm.

Rozelle markets

For a traditional flea market feel, head to the Rozelle Markets. The open area has a garage sale vibe, perfect for bargain-hunters.

You can likely find a fair few steals, but be prepared to sift through the towers of old records and baskets of pre-loved clothing. Known as a collector’s market, Rozelle offers up everything from vintage fashion to books to bric-a-brac.

  • Where: The Rozelle markets are held at the Rozelle School.
