vivid sydney

Every year Sydney's iconic landmarks and buildings take part in a music, art and light show that draws thousands of visitors to the bustling city. Open from the 26th May - 17th June 2017, you can expect to see Sydney's most popular tourist attractions lit up and becoming a backdrop to a number of interactive light and music installations.

The most popular exhibition takes place at Circular Quay, where you can witness the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge lit up in a changing display of moving images accompanied with music. There are around 35 light installations scattered around Circular Quay including an interactive Sound Cube, impromptu disco spaces and animated movies on the walls of Customs House. Other places worth checking out are: Martin Place, Hyde Park, the Royal Botanic Gardens and Campbell's Cove (among many others). For more tips on what's on and to download your own VIVID Sydney walking tour throughout the city, you can download the FREE VIVID Sydney app here.

Anyway, enough chit chat. Here are our favourite Instagram snaps from #VIVIDSydney from years gone by, to give you a taste of what it's like...

Sydney Opera House

On May 26 at 6pm AEST, the Sydney Opera House sails will transform into a large-scale canvas for Vivid LIVE as part of @vividsydney. To celebrate, we'll be broadcasting 'Lighting the Sails' LIVE to our Facebook page from 5.45pm AEST. This year, watch Sydney creative Ash Bolland's morphing, mesmeric artwork, Audio Creatures, take shape on the Opera House sails paired with tailor-made soundscapes by Brazilian electronic producer Amon Tobin. Be transported to a world of colourful sea creatures, vibrant plant life and a sleek, organic/mechanistic chrome future. Stay tuned for more details on our Lighting the Sails live stream, including some very exciting announcements. We hope to see you there for the magical 'lights on' moment to kick off the start of Vivid Sydney. #VividLIVE #VividSydney
