Auckland: A Day at Piha Beach 10:53 AM on Sun 23 Mar 2014

Kia Ora from Piha Beach & Raglan

I went on a day trip to Piha and it was amazing! After about 40 minutes drive I arrived at Piha beach! It is a beautiful beach which is also renowned for a great surfing spot. The sand is black, which comes from the eruption of Taupo eons ago. I enjoyed the beach, watched the surfers and I went up Lion’s Rock!

You have a great view of the beach from the top of Lion’s Rock! At first I could not see the Rock was in a shape of a lion, but when you can find the “eye” you will see it! After enjoying the beach and some fush and chups I went to Karekall Waterfall, which was amazing! After a guided walk through the nature, we arrived at the waterfall! The nature is unbelievable. Of course I went for a swim, which was a bit cold but very nice! After the trip to the waterfall we went back to Auckland.

It was such a great day and I really recommend it! If you want to go on a daytrip, this is something you should do! Surf the Elements now has a great deal for a half day waitakere experience! For only $50 you visit the Arataki Visitor Centre, a guided walk to karekare waterfall Piha beach and Lion’s Rock and free time on Piha Beach!

So if you are looking to get out of Auckland for a day, come see Base Travel Auckland to book a beautiful daytrip!
