Base is right in the centre of Wanaka. Located two blocks from the lake and in the middle of Wanaka's shops restaurants and bars this is the most convenient budget accommodation in town!

To and from the airport: Shuttles and taxis are located outside the airport terminal and will drop you off at our front door. The cheapest way to get to BASE is by shuttle as taxis cost more. When you are ready to leave, just ask our friendly reception crew to book your return shuttle to the airport.

Driving: Finding BASE is very easy as we are located in the centre of Wanaka on Brownston Street right behind the New World car park.

Backpacker Buses: Backpacker buses will drop you at our door - just tell the driver you are staying at Base Wanaka

Mint Bar is Wanaka's only backpacker and apres ski bar! Mint offers wicked entertainment, live sports, world class DJ's & epic live music every night of the week!  Come straight from the mountain to Mint bar & get stuck into our gourmet pizzas & nightly drink specials. At Mint you have a choice of either mingling in the courtyard, kicking ass on the pool table, competing in the hilarious bar games, getting amongst the dance floor, or just chilling in front of the open fire with a glass of mulled wine!

  • Saturday UV White Night: A truly fun party where the bar is decked out in UV lights, a UV DJ and UV paint is everywhere. A must-do experience.
  • Sunday Open Mic Night: With all drinks at $5 and live music our Sunday's are a great night
Good times roll from 5pm-2:30, 7 days a week and the menu caters for everyone. Join us for a BBQ every night at 8pm. You will have a Mint time.
